High Alpine Lake Overnight Trip

Trip Itinerary

Upon booking a trip, we will schedule a pick up time and location. We can pick you up anywhere in the Bitterroot/Missoula Area. The trailhead is a 2 1/2 hour drive from Missoula and a 3 hour drive from Hamilton so we prefer to pick you up early on your first day to make the most of your trip.

Once you arrive at the trailhead our experienced team introduces you to your horse to get a saddle fit just for you. With a well fit saddle and some lunch in your saddle bags we leave for the lake! The horse back ride is a very scenic 3.5 mile ride that takes about an hour. Pair that with our well experienced stock and you get the perfect intro-level ride, great for beginner riders and kids.

When we arrive at the lake the fun really begins, a shore lunch will be provided and while the crew takes care of the stock you get to soak it all in. The high alpine lake is 12 acres and is home to a healthy population of cutthroat trout. The activities available include Fishing, Paddle Boarding, Hiking, and more Horseback Riding if you're up for it.

As the evening winds down we take a short walk back to camp. At camp you will have your own personal wall tent and a Latrine Tent (I did say this is Glamping)... Inside you will each have a cot & sleeping pad. Sleeping bags are available upon request or you can bring your own. 

For dinner our staff will prepare a rustic and charming open flame steak dinner. If you have not had steak dinner cooked over an open campfire you are missing out! Steak, Potatoes, and a Veg are what's on the menu followed by a cobbler for dessert. (For alternate dinner items please reach out as we are accommodating).

In the morning the staff will be busy saddling stock and getting ready to depart while you drink your morning coffee. One last cast of the fly rod or morning walk and we depart for the trailhead. We will provide lunch at the trailhead to tide you over for the drive home. 

2026 Rates:

$2,000 flat rate for 2 people. 

$300 for every additional person, we can accommodate up to 6 at a time.

Trip Availability Varies but we are currently booking from July 8th-August 30th.

Prices do not include Sleeping bag rentals $20 a person & Paddle Boards $50 for 2...... (I have to bring along an extra mule for these).

Prices do not include gratuity, fishing licenses, or taxes. Idaho charges a 6% sales tax and a 3% forest service use fee.
